What a MATCH! Both teams came in with similar level of skills and technique. Many thought Korea would win based on the records it holds against Japan. The fact that it wasn’t a goaless draw speaks volume of their improvement. Both side scored within the 90 min, 1-1 before the 1st Half, went goaless in the second and Japan came from behind to lead in the 97th minute. But Korea tied in the 120th, seconds before time. The lead up to the Penalty Shootout was amazing and heartwrenching.
Sad to say, I was disappointed Japan conceded that last goal, but it was a good goal from South Korea. They really clench the tie literally at the last second. Japan could’ve won after extra time.
but Kawashima did great in the Penalty shootout, denying the 2 goals while another went just wide. Japan did great scoring all three goals on target. Nagatomo missed, but it was the only down point.
Congratulations, JAPAN! To the Finals! GAMBARE NIPPON! GAMBARE SAMURAI BLUE!
