So today was a remarkable day West Indies won the toss and elected to Bat first which proved fatal. Prominent was the Pakistani performance in bowling and batting. True spirit of the game and a clear indication that Pakistani squad is learning to play as one team and learning from their mistakes from every match. Sammy the West-Indian captain answers well to the questions put forth in the captains corner during the interviews however as player failed to impress. Wickets fell in clusters and West-Indian’s were not able to counter the spin bowling well throughout the tournament. Key point to understand here is that a lot of players on the West-Indian side are under 27 and not have enough experience under their belt, however the experience which they have gathered by playing in this World Cup will certainly play a major role in preparing them for the next World Cup. I guess Pakistan has started paying their debt’s to all the teams who booked them at less scores or won from them by 10 wickets i.e. West Indies 10 wicket win 1992. Defeating Australia who has never lost a World Cup match.
P.S. “If England are the new Pakistan, Pakistan are fast becoming the new Australia.
Following victory means their first journey to India since 2007 to face either the co-hosts or the defending champions in Mohali. Pakistan does not care who the opposition is and it would take an exceptional performance to derail their efforts as Pakistani certainly knows what is at stake!
Kamran & Hafeez did really well for Pakistan, played the important innings well and finished the match with a style literally crushing 10 wicket victory against the indies in the first quarter-final in Dhaka. If you come to think of it Pakistan is actually two games away from achieving the impossible which Imran Khan did back in 1992. Performance in international matches has always been the key performance indicator for gauging a players level and Shahid Afridi has proven his mettle yet again in this match by booking 4-30. Rest was done by his spinning squad… I guess more of a killing squad dismantling indies for 112. The bowling side of Pakistan is displaying their skills and proving to world that not only their fast bowlers as well as spinners pose a serious threat to upcoming contenders. Quite remarkably Hafeez has done quite well with 2-16 and then playing a splendid opening partnership and nailing Man of the Match title.
