Ireland vs Germany Preview:

Republic of Ireland welcomes Germany to the Aviva Stadium on Friday October 12. Both sides try to qualify to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil from the first place. The visitors will try to continue their great start to qualifying against Giovanni Trapattoni’s team. The Italian coach has not lost home-matches since 2010.

Republic of Ireland currently stands twenty eighth in the FIFA World Rankings and Germany goes the second. Ireland did not qualify to the last World Cup and did not qualify from their group in the Euro 2012. Germany finished third in the last World Cup and achieved the semi-finals on last Euro. Ireland have scored nine goals in last ten matches and conceded eleven. Germany have scored eighteen in last ten games and conceded fourteen.

Germany machine were the potential winners of Euro 2012. But they have lost to Italy in the semi-finals.

Giovanni Trapattoni’s team has had to deal with a series of injuries. Glenn Whelan, Richard Dunne and Sean St Ledger are out of the game. Forward Kevin Doyle was released from the squad due to a groin problem. Unfortunately, Robbie Keane has been ruled out.

Stoke City attacker Walters will play in front, with Cox. Shane Long, probably will sit on the bench. And Seamus Coleman could make his first start for Ireland team.

Joachim Low will be playing without some key players. Captain Philipp Lahm has a suspension. Mats Hummels is injured. New Arsenal attacker Lukas Podolski has an ankle concern. Mario Gotze is under doubt.

Germany have already won their opening two qualify-games defeated Faroe Islands 3-0 and Austria 2-1. Ireland have won their opening game against Kazakhstan with the score 2-1.
