Poland vs England Preview:
Roy Hodgson’s team takes a trip to Warsaw where they’ll try to get three points and strengthen their position at the top of Group H after an easy win over San Marino. Hosts will look for their thirty nine years wait for a win over England.
Poland has made a great start to their road to World Cup getting up four points in two group matches. A 2-2 away draw in Montenegro and a 2-0 home win over Moldova. So they will try to clash for at least second place in the Group H. Poland didn’t have an official qualifying game on Friday. They have played a friendly match against South Africa and won 1-0. The Borussia Dortmund’s striker Robert Lewandowski has been rumoured that many English clubs are interested in his person.
England has already played three qualifying games, and they still remain unbeaten. The Three Lions team had a superb 5-0 win away at Moldova, 1-1 draw at home match against Ukraine and a simple 5-0 home win over San Marino. Poland is a strong opponent, so this game is very important for England’s progress. England stands on the top of Group E, so they will try not to lose points in this game. This will be a great test for English national team, especially for their new central defence duo with Jagielka and Cahill. As Terry retired and Ferdinand is still hoping to get back his best conditions. Right winger Aaron Lennon should get the start place instead of injured Theo Walcott. Frank Lampard and Ryan Bertrand from Chelsea were ruled out.
Poland coach Waldemar Fornalik will play without the captain Jakub Blaszczykowski, who injured his ankle and Arsenal’s goalkeeping pair Wojciech Szczesny with foot problem and Lukasz Fabianski with shoulder injury. So Przemyslaw Tyton will start in goal. Polanski is also under doubt, so Krychowiak or Borysiuk can play in start.
Captain Steven Gerrard and Glen Johnson will play after serving their suspensions. Joleon Lescott, James Milner and Jermain Defoe were rested against San Marino so they could return to the starting line-up. Theo Walcott has chest/rib problems. Ashley Cole also could return to the team.
Poland line-up: Tyton, Piszczek, Glik, Wasilewski, Wawrzyniak, Borysiuk, Krychowiak, Mierzejewski, Obraniak, Grosicki, Lewandowski.
