Barcelona vs Celtic Preview:
Barcelona welcomes Celtic on the Camp Nou in the third group stage of the Champions League. The hosts will miss minimum three key players as they still have injured defenders. After their first ever away win in the Champions League, the visitors will be hoping to get at least one point against the Spanish grand.
Barcelona are the leaders of a pretty uncomplicated group. Catalans will play without three key defenders. To all this, Sergio Busquets is suspended. He will serve the first of a two-game ban for his red card against Benfica. So it is a big question who will act as a half-back, cause Song probably will play in the centre of defence alongside to Mascherano. Maybe we will see Fabregas Iniesta and Xavi in the centre from the starting minutes.
Gerard Pique still has ankle problems. Carles Puyol with elbow injury will miss this match, so Alex Song is the potential partner of Javier Mascherano at the back. Dani Alves, who is not in the good form, has a hamstring problem. He is already back to fitness, but Vilanova did not want to risk. So, a young full-back Martin Montoya will continue at the right.
Celtic will play without Kris Commons with hamstring injury, James Forrest with groin problem and Scott Brown with the hip. Scotland’s squad is far of their best conditions due to injury concerns.
Mikael Lustig, Emilio Izaguirre and Georgios Samaras were missing on Saturday’s game, but all three are in line for Champions League match.
Barcelona are unbeaten in their last seventeen Champions League home games. They have fourteen wins and three draws. Catalans have scored in each of their last home games in the group stages. But Celtic have won just one of their last twenty seven away games.
