Liverpool vs Aston Villa Preview:

On December 15th Liverpool welcomes Aston Villa at the Anfield in Liverpool. Suarez returns for Reds to try to get third straight win. Two managers come face to face in need of a win after disappointing starts.


Liverpool goes tenth in the EPL standings with twenty two points from sixteen games, having five wins, seven draws and four losses. Their present form has seen three wins, one draw and one defeat in their last five matches. Last weekend Liverpool had a difficult away game against West Ham. They played without their top-scorer Luis Suarez and managed to turn back after a 2-1 half time and won the match with the score 3-2.  Last results will give them a lot of confidence.


Aston Villa are sixteenth in the league table with fifteen points after sixteen matches. They have three wins, six draws and seven losses. Their present form has seen one win, three draws and one defeat in their last five games. Villa are still struggling with their long injury list with Stevens, Vlaar, Bennett, Dunne and Gardner. They have managed not to loos for four matches, drawing three of them.  They are still close to the relegation zone. Aston Villa won at Norwich City with the score 4-1 last weekend.


Liverpool’s top-scorer Luis Suarez came back after serving a one-match ban last weekend. Jose Enrique is under doubt after the 3-2 win over West Ham. Brendan Rodgers can replace him by Stewart Downing. Nuri Sahin is close to return. Martin Kelly and Fabio Borini are long-term injured.

Paul Lambert has a long injury list with Captain Ron Vlaar, Enda Stevens, Darren Bent and long-term absentees Richard Dunne and Gary Gardner. Joe Bennett could return.


Liverpool line-up: Reina, Johnson, Skrtel, Agger, Downing, Sterling, Shelvey, Lucas, Suso, Gerrard, Suarez.
