Real Madrid vs Espanyol Preview:

On December 16th Real Madrid welcomes Espanyol at the Estadio Santiago BernabĂ©u in Madrid. Mourinho’s team is in need of rehabilitation after Copa del Rey disappointment. After a poor crush in midweek, Los Blancos will be looking for three points to ensure that they can get in touch with the league-leaders Barcelona.

Real Madrid are third in La Liga with thirty to points after fifteen matches. They have ten wins, two draws and three losses. In their last five games they managed four wins and one defeat in all competitions. In Spanish La Liga Los Merengues also have four victories and one defeat from their last five matches. Real Madrid are closing to the second placed Atletico going five points behind their Madrid neighbours. Barcelona faces Atletico this weekend, so Real Madrid will be hoping for a draw in this game to come closer to their opponents. But Barcelona are just too far in front now with eleven points. Madrid lost their midweek Copa del Rey game to Celta with the score 2-1.

Espanyol are nineteenth in the league table with just eleven points after fifteen rounds. They have two wins, five draws and eight losses. Their present form has seen three defeats and two draws in their last five games. Espanyol have no injury problems, but is struggling this season.
