On December 19th Borussia Dortmund welcomes Hannover at the Signal-Iduna-Park in Dortmund. Jurgen Klopp’s faces Hannover in the DFB Pokal tie. The defending champions are in good mood after an impressive win over Hoffenheim at the weekend, so they will try to extend their progression in the cup.

Dortmund are third in the league table with thirty points after seventeen rounds. They have eight wins, six draws and three defeats. Their present form has seen two victories, two draws and one defeat.  Dortmund are twelve points behind the leaders Bayern. BvB are the current holders of the DFB Pokal, after they overcome Bayern with the score 5-2. They have won this cup three times in their history. Dortmund has won previous DFB Pokal game with the score 4-1 over Aalen.

Hannover are eleventh in the German Bundesliga with twenty three points after seventeen matches. They have won seven, drawn two and lost eight games. In the last five matches they managed two wins, one draw and two defeats. They have won Dynamo Dresden to penalty kicks to progress into the next round in their previous DFB Pokal match.


With a huge advantage of Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga it is likely that Dortmund’s head coach Jurgen Klopp will give even more importance to the DFB Pokal this year. The German champions could count on Sebastian Kehl after his recuperation from a knee injury. However, he is doubtful for this match. Marcel Schmelzer has returned to full training after an infection. But, Sven Bender is still sidelined cause of a groin injury.

Hannover closes to this game missing three key players. Leon Andreasen is will miss most of the season, defender Felipe could not play due to a hip injury, and important midfielder Lars Stindl is still recovers from ankle surgery.
