Wigan Athletic vs Arsenal Preview:
On December 22sd Wigan welcomes Arsenal at the DW Stadium in Wigan. The Gunners are looking for third EPL place. Arsene Wenger’s team could rise above Chelsea over the weekend, while the injury-hit Latics are in need of at least one point to move out of the relegation line.
Wigan are eighteenth in the EPL table with fifteen points from seventeen rounds. They have four wins, three draws and ten losses. Their present form has seen one win, one draw and three defeats in their last five matches. The Latics have lost to Norwich with the 2-1 last weekend. Wigan have really struggled this season and have fallen into the bottom three. They must fast start gather points if they don’t want to relegate to the Championship. Their Christmas games are very hard with two home matches against Arsenal and Manchester United and two away games at Everton and Aston Villa.
Arsenal are fifth in the league table with twenty seven points from seventeen games. They have won seven, drawn six and lost four matches so far this season. Their last five EPL games have seen two wins, two draws and one defeat. They have won Reading with the score 2-5 last weekend. Arsenal have a very difficult season with sale of their key players. But they are just two points off the Champions League places. The Gunners have qualified to the next round of Champions League, but have been relegated from League Cup by Bradford last week.
