Manchester United vs West Ham Preview:

On January 16th Manchester United welcomes West Ham at the Old Trafford in Manchester. The last time the Hammers visited Old Trafford on cup game (January 2003), they were thrashed 6-0 by Red Devils.

This FA Cup replay-match comes after an excellent first game which ended in a 2-2 draw.  West Ham played excellently after scoring a gaol and looked to have won the game holding a 2-1 lead after 90 minutes. But United scored thanks to substitute Robin van Persie on a 91st minute.

Manchester United are at the top of the EPL standings with fifty five points after twenty two games. They have a seven point lead over second placed Man City and are in excellent form.  The Red Devils have eighteen wins, one draw and three losses so far this season. Their present form has seen four victories and one draw from their last five games. In the last five games at home Man Utd have one defeat and four straight wins in all competitions. Man Utd. had a hard 2-1 win over Liverpool this weekend.

Manchester United have not won the FA Cup since 2004.

 

West Ham stands in eleventh place in the league table with twenty six points after twenty one matches, having seven wins, five draws and nine losses this season. Their present form has seen one win, one draw and three losses. Last five away games of Hammers have ended with one draw and four defeats. They have had a strong season after their return to the EPL and are well outside of the relegation fight.

The Hammers last cup glory was in 1980.

The winner of this game will face Fulham or Blackpool in the fourth round at home.

 

Manchester United have toughs about league game with Tottenham this weekend, so they may give a rest to some starters. Sir Alex Ferguson can count on Wayne Rooney. Nani also is set to return after a couple of months. Nemanja Vidic and Ashley Young both are having knee injuries. Jonny Evans after hamstring problem is still unfit. Sir Alex Ferguson can use Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Anderson and Alexander Buttner.

Marouane Chamakh is unable for the Hammers, cause he not being registered for the present cup-game, so Carlton Cole will continue up front. Mark Noble may return after a calf injury. Mohamed Diame has returned to trainings, but may not be featured until the weekend. Joey O’Brien, James Collins have hamstring injuries. George McCartney and Andy Carroll remain sidelined with knee problems.
