Swansea vs Chelsea Preview:

On January 23rd Swansea welcomes Chelsea at the Liberty Stadium in Swansea. The Blues hunting for a two-goal difference in the League Cup semi-final second leg match. Rafa Benitez’s team have been in good form far away from home. But they face strong home-team and a big challenge, after the south Wales club won the first-leg thanks to goals of Michu and Danny Graham.

This is the second leg of the Capital One Cup semi finals. Swansea shocked Stamford Bridge a week ago with an excellent 2-0 win. The game was controlled by London club with 64% of ball possession and 24 shots to Swansea’s 5.

Swansea are ninth in the EPL standings with thirty three points after twenty three games. They have been in upright form lately with two wins, two draws and one loss in their last five games in all competitions. Their last five home games in all competitions have seen two victories and three draws. The Swans will be confident of getting the best result here at home.  Also an interesting stats fact, that Swansea have lost just one of their last nine games. The Welsh club haven’t been defeated at home stadium since eights of December. They have lost at the Liberty Stadium just two times so far this season. Michael Laudrup’s team could make their first ever appearance in a key cup final. Also they could become the first Welsh winners of the League Cup.

Chelsea are third in the league table with forty five points after twenty three games. They have actually been much stronger on the road than at home. Their last five away games have seen five straight wins. Their present form has seen three wins, one draw and one defeat from their last five games.

Chelsea have won each of their last six away games in all competitions at home under Rafa Benitez. Juan Mata is this season’s League Cup best assistant, while Swansea’s Danny Graham is the second highest goal-scorer. Chelsea have drawn 1-1 with Swansea on their last two away games.

Swansea have a quite full squad to choose from. They will play without Kemy Agustien and Neil Taylor cause both have ankle injuries. Central defender Chico is a doubt for this tie, so Garry Monk is expected to continue in the centre of defence. Michael Laudrup has putted Gerhard Tremmel in all of Swansea’s League Cup games, so he once again will start between the posts.

Rafa Benitez can’t count on Nigerian duo Victor Moses and John Obi Mikel, cause both are on AC N. David Luiz could miss this game via an ankle injury that he picked-up in the Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Arsenal. Oriol Romeu is long-term absentee.

Swansea line-up: Tremmel, Rangel, Monk, Williams, Davies, Ki, Britton, Hernandez, De Guzman, Routledge, Michu.
