Valencia vs Real Madrid Preview:

On January 23rd Valencia takes on Real Madrid at the Estadio de Mestalla in Valencia. Los Blancos will try to get to the semi-final stage. Jose Mourinho’s team smashed out Los Che in La Liga on Sunday. They face for third time in ten days now in the Copa del Rey quarter-final second leg, having two goals in advantage.

This is the second leg of the Spanish Copa del Ray quarter final. The first leg has finished with a 2-0 win of Real Madrid.  Goal from Karim Benzema and an own goal from Valencia left back Andres Guardado have established the final score of the first match.  That gives great chances to Madrid to qualify for the semi-finals. Valencia are seventh in La Liga standings with thirty points after twenty games. Valencia have won seven of their last ten games in all competitions, but their last five games have seen three wins and two straight losses from Real Madrid. Last five games at Mestalla have seen the same stats. 5-0 home defeat to Real Madrid on Sunday was their biggest-ever home loss in La Liga.

Real Madrid are third in the league table with forty points after twenty games. They have won four of their last five matches in all competitions. Last far away from home games Los Merengues have finished with two wins, one draw and two defeats. Also Los Blancos have won their last four games at the Mestalla while C. Ronaldo has scored seven goals in this matches.


The winner of this pair will face the winner of the Barcelona-Malaga game in the semi-final.

Valencia forward Roberto Soldado will miss Wednesday’s game cause of a thigh injury. David Albelda has calf injury and Dani Parejo has fractured thumb, so they are still sidelined. Right-back Joao Pereira is available after a one-match ban. Midfielder Sergio Canales are fit and could make his first start since April last year, but probably he is not in his great form after returning from a long injury.

Madrid head coach Jose Mourinho probably will rotate his squad with Ricardo Carvalho, Jose Callejon and Karim Benzema. Kaka has returned from suspension, but he is rumoured with leaving and is unlikely to be featured.
