Niger – DR Congo Preview:

On January 24th Niger welcomes DR Congo at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth. The Mena will try to rehabilitate after the tournament’s first loss while the Leopards will battle for maximum points.

Niger’s the most known loss in their football history was provided by Congo Brazzaville with the score 10-0 in 1961. Also they have the smallest amount of European-based players in this competition.

Dr Congo managed to draw against powerful Ghana in their first game. They have won only one game of their last seven away matches and drew four times. Dr Congo will try to get their first three points.

Both countries have to show their confidence of football and this Group B game promises real battles. You have to take into account that the Nigeriens held Mali until the last minutes.


Nigeriens have strong players like Moussa Maazou, Koffi Dan Kowa, Abdul Karim Lacina and Issoufou Boubacar Garba.

The Leopards are also full with confidence, after scoring two goals with group favourites Ghana. They will be hoping to get their first win and to close to qualification. Tressor Mputu, Youssoup Mulumbu, Lua Lua and Dieumerci Mbokani could load power to the Leopards.
