Manchester City vs Liverpool Preview:

On the 3rd of February Man City takes on Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester. Mancini’s team will try to recoup seven-point breach from the top standing Utd. The hosts face the Reds, who are in need of three points to keep their hopes on Champions League place alive.

 

Manchester City currently goes second in the Premier League with fifty two points from twenty four games, winning fifteen, drawing seven and losing two so far this season. The Citizens are now seven points behind the leaders Manchester United. Their present form from last five matches has seen four straight wins and one 0-0 draw with QPR last weekend. Last five home games Man City finished with one loss and four straight victories. Roberto Mancini was caught in site at the Emirates Stadium when Liverpool played a very good away game against Arsenal in midweek. So, he notated the game to take three points they need to stay in the hunt for the title. Also, it should be said that Man City have won two and lost just one of their last eight EPL games with Liverpool. Five of those finished in a draw.

Liverpool stands seventh in the league table with thirty five points from twenty four games, having won nine, drawn eight end lost seven matches this season.  The Reds are seven points behind fourth-placed Tottenham. Their present form has seen two wins, one draw and two defeats from their last five fixtures. Last five away games Liverpool finished with the same stats, drawing the last one against Arsenal with the score 2-2 last weekend. Brendan Rodgers was very pleased how his team’s acted against Arsenal on Wednesday. But, the Merseyside club will need to do their best to gain points against the defending EPL champion. Luis Suarez is Liverpool’s top-scorer with 22 goals in all competitions. Steven Gerrard is the only midfielder that played every minute of every EPL game so far this season. Also, Liverpool have scored in their last 11 league matches. Only Man Utd have scored in 12.

 

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany and right-back Micah Richards could return into the game after their injuries. Brothers Kolo and Yaya Toure still remain on AFCON where they represent Ivory Coast. But Roberto Mancini is unlikely to make too many changes from that team which has drew with QPR.

Ex-Inter Milan player Phillip Coutinho could make his debut, but he probably will start from the bench. Jose Reina will continue in goal after returning from a hip injury against Arsenal in midweek. Andre Wisdom will continue at right-back, even though the probable return of Jose Enrique. Glen Johnson will act at left-back. Martin Kelly is a long-term absentee with a knee injury.
