On the 3rd of February Valencia takes on Barcelona at the Estadio de Mestalla in Valencia. The Catalan grad will try to extend their LaLiga lead. The Blaugrana have to save their eleven-point advantage over second-placed Atletico Madrid in the Primera Division table while they face strong Los Ches.


Valencia are seventh in La Liga with thirty three points from twenty one games. They have ten wins, three draws and eight losses so far this season. Los Che are only two points behind the last Champions League place. They have been on a poor run lately with two wins, one draw and two defeats from last five matches in all competitions. Last five home games Valencia have finished with three victories, one draw and loss. They are looking to get back in contention of the top four. Last weekend they have beat Deportivo with the score 2-3. Valencia have won four of their last five La Liga games, but also they have lost their last three matches against Barcelona.

Barcelona stands at the top of the league with fifty eight points from twenty one games, having won nineteen, drawn one and lost one so far this season. The Catalans have a elevn points advantage over Atletico and fifteen points over Real Madrid. Their present form has seen two wins, two draws and one defeat from their last five games in all competitions. They have won four of their last five league matches. Last five games away from home Barcelona have finished with three wins, one draw and one defeat. In the Copa del Rey in midweek they were held to a 1-1 draw by Real Madrid, when they almost certainly deserved a win. Barcelona are favourites for this game. Lionel Messi has scored in a record eleven following La Liga fixtures.


Valencia striker Roberto Soldado has returned to trainings after a thigh injury, so he could play in Sunday’s game. But, Dani Parejo with hand injury and Jonas with thigh problem will miss the game. Nelson Valdez is a doubt due to a calf injury. Good news are that left-back Jeremy Mathieu has recovered from his ankle injury. But he is not in his best form yet. Winger Sofiane Feghouli has returned from the AFCON and could start from the bench.

Barcelona could count on Gerard Pique after his absentee due to red card. Forward Isaac Cuenca was loaned out to Ajax.
