Valencia vs PSG

Valencia vs PSG Preview:

Date: February 12, 2013; Time: 7:45 PM UTC;

Venue: Estadio de Mestalla — Valencia.

Ancelotti’s team travels to Spain in search of first leg advantage. The Ligue 1 leaders will try to make significant progress in a top European competition. Valencia takes on Paris Saint-Germanin in one of the most interesting Champions League games this round. Valencia usually sells off their best players, while PSG has invested heavily in their current squad.

Valencia sits fifth in the Primera Division with 37 points from 23 games. Their present form has seen two wins, two draws and one defeat from their last five matches. Last five home games Los Che have finished with the same stats. In the Champions League this season Valencia won BATE and Lille, and managed a 1-1 draw against Bayern Munchen. Also, Valencia is unbeaten in their last nine Champions League home games. They are in pretty good form at the present moment. But, Los Che have passed through very hard games from which a draw with Barcelona, and the loss against Real Madrid.

PSG presently stands at the top of Ligue 1 with 51 points from 24 matches. Their current form has seen five straight wins from last five games. Last five fixtures away from home PSG have finished with the same stats. In the Champions League away games PSG have a loss against FC Porto and two victories: against Dynamo Kyiv and Dinamo Zagreb.

Valencia head coach Ernesto Valverde has no important injury concerns. Good news are that Joao Pereira, Victor Ruiz and Diego Alves should return to the starting squad, after being rested in the 1-0 victory over Celta Vigo at the weekend.

PSG can’t count on Thiago Silva and Thiago Motta due to thigh injuries. Blaise Matuidi, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Christophe Jallet and Ezequiel Lavezzi were all on the substitute bench in 3-1 win over Bastia, so they all should return to the starting squad. New star-player David Beckham will go to the Mestalla to watch his new team-mates, but he has not been included in the squad.
