Magpies will be looking for first win in six European away matches. Papiss Cisse had two goals disallowed in the 0-0 draw in the first-leg. In Ukraine each team will do their best to progress into the round last 16.

Newcastle failed to score on several great chances in the first leg. Playing in Ukraine against Metalist is never going to be easy. Home team could complete a hard winter preparation versus Newcastle.

Metalist stands 4th in the UPL table with 36 points from 18 games.  They has been the 3rd best club in Ukraine since the 06/07 season. They have South American talents in their squad. Currently they’re in the middle of the winter break, but Metalist showed that they have much confidence in the first leg. Their present form has seen 2 wins, 1 defeat and 2 draws from last five games including friendlies. Metalist could be named as a home team having 7wins, 2 draws and 1 loss in their last 10 Europa League games. This season they had a very good 2-0 home win against Leverkusen and have lost at home just once in their last 11 European matches.

Newcastle are 16th in the EPL this season with 27 points from 26 games. They have had a poor season domestically. Most of the season has been cleaned out due to injuries. Their present form has seen 2 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss from last 5 games. Last five away matches the Magpies have finished with 1 win, 1 draw and 3 defeats. They were really unlucky in the first game, case of decisions went against them. Newcastle are without a victory in their five European away games. They have drawn 3 and lost 2 of them.

Metalist have no new injured or suspended players. The home team only Ukrainian-born player in the starting line-up last weekend was brilliant goalkeeper Olexandr Goryainov.

Newcastle are still without Youan Gouffran and Hatem Ben Arfa, so Alan Pardew probably will name the same eleven that drew in the first leg. There are no fresh injury concerns for Newcastle. Danny Simpson is sidelined alongside Dan Gosling, Ryan Taylor and Haris Vuckic.

Metalist Kharkiv line-up: Goryainov, Villagra, Gueye, Torsiglieri, Fininho, Torres, Marlos, Blanco, Cleiton, Willian, Cristaldo.
