PSG vs Valencia

PSG vs Valencia Preview:

Date: March 6, 2013; Time: 7:45 PM UTC;

Venue: Parc des Princes — Paris.

Ancelotti’s team will try to complete their task against Spaniards. The Ligue 1 leaders suffered a shock defeat this weekend, and will try to rehabilitate and progress into the last eight. Ernesto Valverde’s team will try to fight after 1-2 home defeat.

PSG managed an excellent 1-2 away victory in the first leg. They have great chances to qualify for the last 8 of the Champions League thanks to goals from Lavezzi and Javier Pastore.  Valencia scored a last minute goal from defender Adil Rami. PSG star forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic was sent off into add time for a foul on Guardado, so he will miss this match.

PSG are at the top of Ligue 1 table with 54 points from 27 games. They have played 4 games since the first leg and have won 2 and lost 2. Their present form has seen 3 wins and 2 defeats. Last five home matches Les Parisiens have finished with 5 straight wins. But they have lost 1-0 to Reims this weekend and are just 2 points ahead of Lyon now.  Paris Saint-Germain are unbeaten in 22 home games in Europe.

Valencia stands 5th in La Liga with 42 points from 26 games. They have won 1 and drawn 2 since the first leg. Their present form has seen 2 wins, 1 loss and 2 draws from last five games. Last five away fixtures Los Che have finished with 3 wins, 1 defeat and 1 draw. Valencia have drawn away with Levante at the weekend.

PSG head coach Carlo Ancelotti will play without banned duo Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marco Verratti. Zlatan’s red card in the first leg leaves him band for two games by UEFA. He could be replaced by Kevin Gameiro. David Beckham is in line and could make his first Champions League appearance since 2010. Thiago Silva is unlikely to start from the first minutes, Ancelotti will play with Mamadou Sakho and Alex. Christophe Jallet could return in line instead of Gregory van der Wiel.

Valencia manager Ernesto Valverde will play with Frenchman Jeremy Mathieu in defence and without injured Ricardo Costa and Adil Rami. Sofiane Feghouli was born in Paris and should play from the first minutes.
