The Spurs are in need of points. The award-winning Gareth Bale and head coach Andre Villas-Boas team have struggled lately at the back and will try to improve this stats against low placed Saints. Tottenham are in a hard fight for a top 4 spot and cannot lose any more points. Southampton still could hope to finish top half as well as they stay clear of the relegation fight.


Tottenham goes 5th in the EPL table with 62 points from 34 games, having 18 wins, 8 draws and 8 losses so far this season. The Spurs are 3 points ahead of 6th-placed Everton, 2 points behind 4th-placed Arsenal and 3 points behind 3rd-placed Chelsea, but have a game in hand over Gunners and Toffees. The Spurs have dropped a number of points lately, and their present form has seen 1 loss, 1 win and 3 draws from last five games. Last five home matches the Spurs have finished with 1 loss, 2 draws and 2 wins. They managed a late equaliser in a 2-2 draw last week at Wigan. Also they have a vital away match against Chelsea next week.


Southampton stands 13th in the league table with 39 points from 35 games, winning 9, drawing 12 and losing 14 so far this season. The Saints are 7 points clear out of the relegation zone and could fight for a place in a top half of the table. They had been in great form until a 3-0 loss at home to West Brom last weekend. Their present form has seen 2 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss. Last five away matches the Saints have finished with 2 wins, 1 draw and 2 defeats. They’ll to get back to their top form.


Tottenham head coach Andre Villas-Boas has a key players missing. Midfielder Sandro is out for the rest of the season due to a knee injury. Younes Kaboul and William Gallas are still doubtful.


Southampton new manager Mauricio Pochettino has no fitness doubts. But 2 red cards in the last game against West Brom will live them without left-back Danny Fox and Gaston Ramirez. Their only injured player is Richard Chaplow. But he could start from the bench.
