US Open Tennis 2016 Prize Money (Men & Women Singles Winners Get Record $3.5 million each)

Angelique Kerber and Stan Wawrinka has won their respective women and men’s singles US Open titles and with that they will be taking home record $3.5 million each. Below is the entire breakdown of 2016 US open prize money fund and how the total prize money pool will reach $50 million in 2017.

US Open Tennis Championship is set to become the most lucarative and highest paying tennis grand slam in the world after leapfrogging Wimbledon in total prize money fund. US Open 2016 total Prize Money pool will be $46.3 million (10%  increase from 2015). Winners of mens and women singles taking home $3.5 million each. Increase in the prize money was confirmed by US tennis Association.

US Open Prize Money Breakdown: With another 10% increase in the total prize money pool taking the total funds available to $46.3 million. Winners of both mens and women singles event pocketed as much as $3.5 million a piece while the singles runners-up will pocket around $1.75 million. USTA also announced increase in prize money for qualifying event where $1.9 million will be awarded to players eliminated from three qualifying rounds.

$50 Million in 2017 ? US Tennis Association also announced that by 2017 the total prize money pool of US open will reach massive $50 million which means other grand slams like Australian Open and French Open will be under pressure to increase their own prize money and now it looks like a wage race between the top 4 grand slams.
