The eagerly awaited double header between the two spanish giants might give us glimps of season to come. Real Madrid are virtually unchanged apart from letting James Rodriguez leave on loan to Bayern while Barcelona are hit with a massive transfer of Neymar heading to PSG. Real Madrid will be as strong as last season while Barcelona are surely set to miss Neymar contribution from the left side of attach. Who will replace him ? is remain to be seen but its highly likely Barcelona will sign both Philipe Coutinho and Ousman Dembele to cover the gap left by Neymar.

Last time these two meet in a competitive game was a incredible 3-2 win for Barcelona thanks to Messi’s late injury time goal against 10-men Real Madrid. We can expect similar exciting game but the result might be in Real’s favour over the two leg of Spanish Super Cup.

Real Madrid 2-3 FC Barcelona – April 2017
[ Spanish Primera Liga 2017 Match ]
28′ 1 – 0 Casemiro scores the opening goal just before the half hour break after Barcelona had dominated the opening exchanges.
33′ 1 – 1 Lionel Messi equalized with his typical run and finish from the edge of the box to bring Barcelona back on level terms.
73′ 1 – 2 Ivan Rakitic made it 2-1 for Barcelona
85′ 2 – 2 James Rodriguez came on as a sub to win equalize for 10-men Real Madrid.
90′ 2 – 3 Messi scored late in injury time to win the game for Barcelona.

Last time these two meet was back in december 2016 when Sergio Ramos late goal canceled out Barcelona’s lead as both teams shared the spoils in what was a very underwhelming performance from both teams.

Barcelona 1-1 Real Madrid – 03 December 2017
[ Premier League 2016-17 Match ]
53′ 1 – 0 Luis Suarez scores just after the break to put Barcelona 1-0 in lead at Camp Nou. Although the game was pretty even throughout the match.
90′ 1 – 1 Sergio Ramos scores late in second half to earn a respectable draw for Real Madrid at Camp Nou.

Team News & Lineups: Zidane’s Real Madrid has been in absolute superb form going into the big “El Clasico” but he do have some selection headaches after Gareth Bale ruled out leading to the game. That gives some of the fringe players a chance to shine at the highest level. While Toni Kroos and Casemiro are also sidelined which means Zidane will have to put together much altered team as he would have liked.

Barcelona on the other hand has a full team to choose from and Messi will lineup alongside out form-duo of Suarez and Neymar as front three while Rakitic should lineup alongside Iniesta and Busquets in central midfield. Its the back four where Luis Enrique has been having all sorts of problems but with Jordi Alba available again they should be able to put together a strong team.

Match Predictions: This time last year when Barcelona played Real Madrid they registered an easy 4-0 win and things were going great on and off the field. However this season they have been shadows of themselves and Real Madrid are odds on favourite to get a positive result at Camp Nou. But playing at home, Iniesta’s return to starting lineup are the variables which suggest it won’t be easy for Real Madrid. I am going with a surprise 2-0 win for Barcelona in this one.

Preview Match Reviews: Zidane is likely to go with a three man midfield to counter Barcelona’s superior possession and try to hit them on counter attacks with Bale and Ronaldo playing on the flanks. Barcelona’s defense has not been full tested this season and if Real madrid can put themselves together and play as a team they might be able to create a few problem for Pique in company. Having said that with Messi, Neymar and Suarez playing upfront Barcelona will always have goals in them and I expect them to atleast hit the target twice. So I am going with a 2-1 win for Barcelona.

FC Barcelona took on Real Madrid in the last El Clasico of the season at Camp Nou this saturday night and it turned out a very competitive game. Real Madrid played with a deep defensive line and gave away larger chunk of possession but looked threatening on counter attacks. Barcelona pretty much dominated the first 0-0 half but came to life in second half when Gerard Pique scored from a corner kick to make it 1-0 for the home side.

Sergio Ramos was sent off towards the end of the game taking his fourth red card in El Clasico but that did not bother Real Madrid who countered with numbers and Bale found Ronaldo at the far post who found the back of the net through Claudio Bravo legs after a superb chest control.

FC Barcelona 1-2 Real Madrid Highlights
[ SPanish Primera Liga, Saturaday, 02 April 2016 ]
56′ 1 – 0 Gerard Pique headed home from the corner kick just after the break to put Barca 1-0 up.
63′ 1 – 1 Karim Benzema scored with a acrobatic shot after a loppy cross found its way over Pique.
84′ [ Red Card ] Sergio Ramos was sent off for second bookable offense, his fourth in El Clasico
85′ 1 – 2 Cristiano Ronaldo scored with a neat finish late in second half to win the game for real madrid.

A Johan Cruyff tribute started the proceedings in the saturday’s clasico and it was promised to be a much more competitive game than the last time these two meet back in October. First half ended in a 0-0 draw but Barcelona pretty much dominated with superior ball possession and Real Madrid were could just play on the counter from time to time.

Sergio Ramos looked to have brought down Lionel Messi inside the box but referee waved play on while couple of other dodgy decisions kept Real Madrid in the game. After the break Gerard Pique scored the opening goal of the game with a devastating header to put Barcelona in the lead. But Karim Benzema brought Madrid back into the game with a acrobatic shot after Kroos cross was half cleared.

Karim Benzema’s goal opened up the game as both teams went for the kill and we had exciting last half hour where Gareth Bale’s perfectly find headed goal was ruled out for pushing.

Ramos was a lucky boy on the pitch as the footage shows he clearly brought down Messi inside the box but got away with the challege. But his luck was eventually run out when his late lunge on Suarez resulted in second yellow and a sending off.

Real Madrid though took the lead minutes later when Cristiano Ronaldo scored with a superb effort after a good chest control and a finish taking Real madrid 2-1 up at Camp Nou and ended Barcelona’s 39 game unbeaten run.
