Pakistan has won the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 after beating hammering arch rivals India in the final by 180 runs. India won the toss and elected to field which turn out to be a wrong decision as Pakistan posted 338 with Fakher Azam scoring a superb hundred. In return Muhammad Aamir dislodged Indian top order in his opening spell and wrapped up the game and the champions trophy for Pakistan.

Virat Kohli and company were confident of chasing down any target and that was the though behind choosing to field first after winning the toss. But unlike in previous games between the two, this Pakistan side is much more composed and positive with Fakher Zaman leading the charger uptop. A second consecutive 100 run partnership between Zaman and Azher Ali laid down the foundation and with 338 runs on the board Pakistan were always going to be a difficult team to face.

Fakher Zaman scored his first ODI hundred and what a team and match to do the honor. He rode his luck early on but as the innings moved forward he started to score freely. It was his third consecutive 50+ inning.

India never looked in control of the chase and lost quick wickets early on thanks to incredible spell by both Muhammad Amir and Junaid Khan. Amir took three wickets including Sharma, Kohli and Dhawan. While Hasan Ali and Shadab also continued their superb performances.

Pakistan fans want to beat India regardless Pakistan qualify for Semifinal or not, this is one game where Pakistan cricket team can give fans back home something to smile about.

Pakistan has never made it to the finals of Champions Trophy and looking at their current team and some other opponents its hard to see them even qualifying for semifinals let alone reaching or winning this tournament. However they do have unpredictability attach to their performances and on their day they can surprise anyone. On paper India are much stronger unit at the moment and Pakistan will have to play some of their best cricket to get the better of India in match where winner can set their sights on semifinal needing one win of the two remaining Group B games.

Virat Kohli usually is the difference between the two teams and he will be eager to start of his 2017 ICC Champions Trophy campaign with a win and a solid performance.

India were victorious last time these two meet in a major tournament back in 2016 ICC T20 world cup and also in the 2015 ICC cricket world Cup. Pakistan need to up their game specially in major tournaments and not crumble under pressure which they usually do when it comes to games against India in big ICC events.
