JOSHUA WINS: Carlos Takam Bravery takes him to 10th round but referee stopped fight as Takam cut above eye poured blood

Anthony Joshua has won the fight against Carlos Takam with a 10th round stoppage and defend his IBF and WBA world heavyweight titles in front of 75,000 crowd at the Municipality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. Joshua always looked in command but it took longer than expected for him to dispose of a very stubborn and brave Takam.

Joshua was expected to win the fight inside first 6 rounds but Carlos Takam had other ideas. He took the punishment which came his way with bravery but a cut above the eye in early rounds was always going to make life difficult for the frenchman. Referee had to stopped the fight in round 10 as Takam was struggling to see the punches.

Whats Next ?: was the question on everybody’s lips after the fight and Joshua named three fighters he would like to get into ring with. Deontay Wilder, Tyson Fury and Joseph Parker.

The match-ups also depend on IBF, WBA and WBO mandatory fights and both Joshua and Eddie Hearns mentioned Wilder, the fight every body wants to see which will give Joshua an oppertunity to unify the heavyweight division by winning WBO belt from american Deontay Wilder sometime in 2018.

Until than, Joshua wants to take a short break, fix his nose, heal and return to training in couple of months time. So we are looking at April 2018 the earliest we can expect Joshua to be back in the ring.

Anthony Joshua is set to defend his IBF and WBA World heavyweight titles against Carlos Takam on Saturday, 27th October 2017 at the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. Its a makeshift fight as Joshua was originally suppose to fight Pulev who had to withdraw because of injury. This fight is build up largely as a tune-up to Joshua’s proposed clash against fellow heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder which is expected sometime in 2018. Joshua vs Takam will be broadcasted in the UK on Sky Box Office.
