Australian Open Tennis 2019 Prize Money (Total purse increased to record AUD $60.5 million)

Australian Open 2019 has got another prize money hike with 10% increase compared to 2018 prize money pool. The total prize money purse for 2019 Australian Open will be AUD$60.5 million (USD$42.8m). Men and women singles winners will pocket AUD$4.5 million (USD$3.2m) each. Below is the entire breakdown of Australian Open 2019 prize money

Australian Open 2019 will see another 10% increase in the total prize money pool which will take the total prize money for the entire competition to AUD$60.5 million (USD$4.85m) compared to AUD$55 million offered in 2018. Men and Women singles champions will take home AUD$4.5 million each. The runner-ups will also pocket AUD$2.5 million while semifinalists in both mens and women singles event will pocket around AUD$1.25m. The increase comes as part of yearly agreement where all four grand slams have been constantly increasing total prize money purse over the past 10 years. Currently US Open is the highest paying grand slam with over $50 million offered in 2018 US Open.

We can safely assume that all other three grand slams will also increase their prize money in 2019 and here is our complete details.

The increase see the players winning their singles qualifying round matches earning more than double what they were paid in 2017. Men’s singles qualifying round 1 winners will take home around AUD$20,000, second round winners will get $25,000 and third round winners will pocked massive AUD$40,000. Both mens and women doubles event also got increase with winners taking home $825,000 while runner ups pocketing as much as $425,000.
