Back the Double at UFC 165
UFC 165 promises to be one of the biggest MMA events of the year and with two major titles on the line there is plenty for fans to get their teeth into this September.
While Renan Barao defends his UFC bantamweight championship against Eddie Wineland, Jon Jones tops the bill in his light heavyweight showdown with Alexander Gustafsson. Certainly both title holders are favourites for their respective ties and with neither man boasting particularly healthy odds on their own, a good tip from www.betfair.com is to back the double.
Looking at Jones first, it’s clear the American is out to build his name in the MMA world and this, his sixth title defence, is merely a stepping-stone on his path to being a full heavyweight. Jones has made it clear he wants to fight higher up the ladder and may soon surrender his light heavyweight belt to make the move – but not just yet.
The 26-year-old must be on his game to beat Gustafsson, who knows how to fight outside his home Sweden and is capable of scrapping with the best. Unfortunately for Gustafsson, Betfair pundits know his big problem is he’s never exceeded three rounds and that’s where Jones usually comes into his own.
As for Brazilian Barao, the interim champ should have no problem wiping the floor with Wineland, who has never fulfilled his early potential. Barao is a master of the submission and will slip past his opponent without Wineland knowing what’s hit him. Betfair suggests backing Barao for the submission within two rounds is as good a tip as any – one thing is for certain, he won’t lose.
